Meet The Richest Malawian Pastor And Business Man, Prophet Sheperd Bushiri

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, is one of the richest Men in Malawi, apart from being a pastor he is also a businessman, motivational speaker and author.

This man is the fourth child in the family of six, was born in Lilongwe but grow up in Mzuzu city.

He is the owner of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG), this is the biggest non-denominational Churches and its headquarters in Pretoria, South Africa and more than 300 branches in Africa.

In 2018, the African Leadership Magazine appointed him into the CEO Hall of Fame in Africa because of his achievements in business.

According to Forbes and BBC, Bushiri’s net worth to be around $150 million this year and this is more money that most people in Africa do not have.

Apart from being the owner of the biggest church, Bushiri also owns a mining, oil, transportation and hospitality company known as Shepherd Bushiri Investments (Pty) Limited. This company has great success for the past years and in 2018it was awarded the business excellence.

He is also the owner of television channel, Telecommunication Company, Sports academies, Universities and several properties both in Malawi and across Africa.

Bushiri owns private jets, in 2016 he purchased third private jet costing around $37 million which he later posted on facebook with a caption “my third jet in two years”

The man of God was arrested in the year 2019 for money laundering and fraud by the South African government.

This man managed to gift his daughter a Maserati Levante costing R300,000 on her sixth birthday in 2017.

Bushiri once claimed that, he has the power to cure HIV and AIDS, and could walk on air but he could not prove this, only some of his congregants had faith in him.

He was accused in 2010 of giving pregnant to a teenager which he later paid her off to abort the pregnancy by writing a bounced 80,000 kwacha cheque.

Bushiri and wife were arrested in 2019 after being suspected of money laundering and fraud by South Africa’s Directorate for Priority Investigations.
