Police Recovers 240 bags of Indian Hemp in Lilongwe

Police in Lilongwe have impounded 240 bags of Indian Hemp which were packed in a fuel tanker belonging to Pezani Transport.

Lilongwe Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu said the bags of hemp were impounded at Lilongwe’s Six Miles at Simso Filling Station, in the wee hours of Tuesday following a tip-off.

Chigalu said that the owner of the hemp is yet to be identified.

The truck, registration number NA 9403, was being driven by Kaulanda Mabvuto Harawa, according to the driver’s licence and passport left in the vehicle.

Chigalu said the hemp will be sent to Chitedze Research Station to confirm its contents.
