Ministry of Lands offices yet to be re-opened

Ministry of lands offices in Lilongwe, remains sealed as discussions to have them opened are still going on between the ministry and the Landlord Mpico Limited.

The offices were sealed on Monday this week, for non-payment of rentals. According to Mpico Limited, government did not pay even a single Tambala in the last financial year of 2021/2022.

Enoch Chingoni, Public Relations Officer for the ministry of lands has told MIJ Online, that discussions are still underway with Mpico Limited to have the offices opened so that government business can resume.

“We hope the matter will be resolved amicably. As a ministry, we are processing payment and we have always shown commitment to pay the rentals.” Said Chingoni.

Mpico Limited has also sealed ministry of Water offices in Tikwele House in Lilongwe for non-payment of rentals.

“K5.5 billion is what Mpico is claiming” added Chingoni.
