Ras Kasengwa’s Illness Update: Fundraising Reggae Dance Hall Aerobics Flops, Mk500, 000 Raised

The Reggae Dancehall Aerobics which took place at Bingu National Stadium aimed at raising funds for the treatment of Ras Peter Kansengwa failed to reach the targeted K5.5 million as only K500,000 was raised from the event.

The event was organised by a group of fitness professionals with the name Lilongwe Fitness Fanatics who in turn, have appealed to Government to intervene by organizing Kansengwa’s trip to India or South Africa to get the much needed treatment.

One of the organisers Ishmael Makawa said they are still calling upon all well-wishers to assist as only 5% of the money was raised from what they organised.

“To all well-wishers, we still need your help in any possible way so that we reach the targeted K5,500,000.00 as soon as possible,” Makawa said.

He also appealed to Government to do something because Ras Kansengwa offered a lot to the national at large but it is sad to see his condition now with no any action from the government side.

“We are all aware that he worked closely with the current government during campaign period and during the demonstrations period which contributed to the promotion of our tourism industry through his photos,” Makawa highlighted.

He also attributed to the current fuel situation in the country to the low turnout at the event.

Kansengwa has publicly revealed that he is struggling to have his daily needs like food and shelter as he requested anyone who can help him with a boys quarter to cover him.

Almost 100 people attended the event including former first lady, madam Shanil Muluzi and from the K500,000 raised, K300,000 covered for the event costs and K200,000 was given to Kansengwa.
