Poilice in Ntcheu has arrested five students from Ntcheu Secondary School for burning their school cafeteria on Monday 14th November 2022.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Ntcheu Police, Rabecca Ndiwate confirmed the development saying the incident happened on Monday night around 23:00hrs.
According to Ndiwate, students led by Frank Chumbi aged 19 burnt down the cafeteria as a way of protesting their colleagues’ dismissal.
School items that were being stored in café including then school’s old mattresses were destroyed.
The case was later reported to police where the five students admitted of the crime and they were arrested while waiting to appear in court soon to answer charges levelled against them.
Police has further complained the act of breaking school properties and urged students to follow school procedures when there is a misunderstanding between students and their authorities because this holds back the school progress.
