Man nabbed over fake fertilizer in Dowa

Police in Mponela, Dowa District have arrested 38 year old Glasswell Kammuoneni for allegedly packaging and selling fake fertilizer.

The incident occurred on November 25,2022 at Mponela Trading Centre.

On November 25, 2025 detectives from Mponela Police received information from Mr Chinsinsi Chunga, 26, that on November 24, 2022 he  went to Eddie Investment Shop to purchase 2 bags of NPK Fertilizer which were parked in ETG company sacks at the price of K55 000 each.

Upon reaching home, he found that the fertilizer granulars were mixed with soil particles.

After receiving the report, the went to the said shop where 11 bags of NPK fertilizer have been seized pending assessment of the same at Malawi Bureau of Standard and ETG fertilizer company to establish if its a counterfeit product.

Suspect will appear before court soon after investigations.

Kammuoneni comes from Kashangula village in the area of Traditional Authority Mponela in Dowa District.
