Court orders Zodiak Broadcasting Station to pay Wanderers top official Steve Pameleza Mk20 million

Court has ordered Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) to pay Wanderers Football Club to official Steve Pameleza MK20 million as compensation over defamatory remarks the station aired few months ago.

In September this year, ZBS carried a story alleging that Pameleza has been arrested in connection with the gate fraud which happened at Kamuzu Stadium where cashiers were found with money amounting to Mk500, 000 suspected to have been stolen at the gate.

The scandal saw the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) engaging the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the Malawi Police Service (MPS) to investigate the fraud in Stadiums.

Due to the gravity of the claims, Pemeleza dragged to court the station demanding Mk20 million as compensation, retraction of the story and public apology.

ZBS did not challenge the case and a default judgement was made.
