On September 21, 2023, Manford Nyondo, a 42-year-old man from Manse 2 village in the area of Senior Chief Mwaulambya in Chitipa, was involved in a hit-and-run motorcycle accident.
The accident occurred along the Chitipa-MRA road and resulted in the severe injury of 36-year-old Fimale Mtambo.
Tragically, Fimale Mtambo did not survive her injuries and passed away upon arrival at Chitipa district hospital.
In a separate but related incident, a 16-year-old boy from Mbaula village in the area of Senior Chief Mwenewenya in Chitipa district is suspected of committing a heinous act.
Allegedly, the boy hacked his 70-year-old grandfather, Lenard Sibale, on the neck in a revenge-driven act due to the death of his sister the previous year.
The police have taken the 16-year-old into custody on suspicion of killing his grandfather.
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon to answer to murder charges related to the incident.
