Law enforcers in Lilongwe have recovered a Probox vehicle, registration number CP 5510, that was stolen at Nalikule on Sunday night after thugs killed its owner, Friday Ganizani.
Meanwhile, police have arrested two suspects at Malangalanga hardware market on Monday, October 9, 2023
The suspects have been identified as Kondwani Kampala, 25, (prime suspect) and Charles Mapemba, 35.
On the said night at Nalikule in Lilongwe, the suspects approached Ganizani (deceased) on the pretext of hiring his vehicle.
However, on the way the suspects played other dirty tricks and killed the driver by suffocating him, and dumped his body along the road.
They later drove the vehicle over the driver’s body so that the murder could pass off as road accident.
But on Monday morning, driven by winds of intelligence, Lilongwe Police detectives invaded Malangalanga Hardware Market, where the vehicle was being offered for sale but, strictly for breaking at K1.5 million price.
The detectives managed to apprehend the suspects who were also in possession of two mobile phones belonging to the deceased.
Investigations are underway to establish more details on the incident.
Kondwani Kampala hails from Chinoko Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Chimutu, Lilongwe, whilst Charles Mapemba, comes from Chigumula Village, T/A Kapeni in Blantyre District.
