Mzuzu first grade magistrate court has sentenced seven Ethiopians to two months in jail and four others to be deported.

The 11 Ethiopian nations were arrested at the start of the month for illegal entry into the country while hiding along the shores of Lake Malawi at Hangalawe in Karonga.

Spokesperson for Immigration Department in the North Francis Chitambuli has confirmed the development and said First Grade Magistrate Robert Makaika has orders the seven to spend their two month in prison cell.

Chitambuli said the other four who were minors had their cases handled by First Grade Clement Mwamale at the child justice court where he ordered to have deported to their home country.

Meanwhile, the convicts are at Mzuzu prison, where 7 are serving their jail term sentence and 4 are waiting for the minister’s determination on deportation.
