The country’s leader, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, has now arrived at the Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
Dr. Chakwera is expected to open the large Malawi Congress Party (MCP) convention, which aims to elect officials who will lead the party for the next five years.
According to the list released by the central committee, Dr. Chakwera has no opponents for the party leadership position.
MCP delegates from different parts of Malawi have arrived, and all officials competing for various positions at the convention are present.
The convention will run for three days, starting today and ending on Saturday.
