
Mulanje Court to Rule Today on Police Officers, Businessman in Case of Boy’s Double Amputation

Mulanje Magistrates’ Court Judge Gift Msume is expected to deliver his verdict today in a case involving police officers Stanley Chigaru, Charles Mbewe, and businessman Mavuto Chikhwaza, who were found guilty in connection with the amputation of both arms of a 13-year-old boy.
On April 25, 2025, Judge Msume found the three guilty of dereliction of duty and causing grievous bodily harm to the boy, identified as JM.
The verdict was initially scheduled for tomorrow, but prosecutor Josephine Gwaza informed us that Judge Msume has decided to deliver it today instead.
