Police Nab Suspect in K4 Million Photo Equipment Theft

Police at the Game Stores Complex in Lilongwe have arrested 27-year-old Shadreck Folly for allegedly stealing equipment from a photo studio in Mzuzu on May 31, 2025.
According to Lilongwe Police spokesperson Hastings Chigalu, the suspect went to Game this morning in search of photographers to whom he could advertise the stolen goods. Unbeknownst to him, the individuals he approached were already aware of the theft at Xian Creative Photo Studio in Mzuzu.
Chigalu stated that the photographers alerted the police, who promptly arrived at the scene to arrest the suspect. Upon questioning, Folly confessed to colluding with security guards in order to steal equipment valued at 4 million Kwacha.
The suspect has since been transferred to Mzuzu, where he is facing formal charges. Shadreck Folly hails from the Kajawa Chiefdom in Kadewere, Chiradzulu District.
