Trial Dates Set in Dr Victoria Bobe Murder Case

The Blantyre High Court has outlined guidelines on how proceedings in the case of the late Dr Victoria Bobe will be conducted.

High Court Judge Ruth Chinwagwa is expected to deliver a ruling on the matter.

According to court spokesperson Ruth Mputeni, the court has set the following schedule:

  1. Both parties must file their submissions by April 17, 2026.
  2. The prosecution will file its case by April 21, which will be reviewed by May 12.
  3. The defence is expected to file its response by April 27, 2026, including an application on whether the case should be dismissed.
  4. The prosecution will respond to the defence’s submissions by June 11.
  5. The court will hear arguments from both sides on June 16, with a ruling scheduled for June 30.

Mputeni added that the court has set July 7 to 10, 2026, as the dates for the trial.

Dr Victoria Bobe, who worked at Gulupu Hospital and was also a lecturer at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS), was shot dead at her home in Chigumula on November 17, 2025.
