15 Injured in Minibus-Lorry Collision at Chingale Turn-Off

Fifteen people were injured, including eight who sustained serious injuries, after a minibus reportedly experienced brake failure and crashed head-on into a lorry at Chingale Turn-Off in Machinga District.
According to Machinga District Health Office Public Relations Officer, Wongani Nyirenda, all 15 victims were transported to Machinga District Hospital for medical treatment.
“We have received 15 casualties at the hospital. Fortunately, no deaths have been recorded, although eight patients are in serious condition,” Nyirenda said.
Machinga Police spokesperson Western Kansire said initial investigations suggest that the minibus suffered brake failure before colliding with the oncoming lorry.
As of the time of reporting, no fatalities had been recorded, and police investigations into the cause of the accident were ongoing.
