Police Launch Manhunt After Motorcycle Rider Robbed and Injured in Neno

Police in Zalewa, Neno District, have launched a manhunt for unknown criminals who allegedly stole a motorcycle and seriously injured its rider, Andiseni Sagawa, and his friend, who are currently admitted to Lisungwi Community Hospital.
Neno Police spokesperson Rebecca Msoliza confirmed the incident, saying it occurred at around 10:00 p.m. on July 24, 2026, at Mpunga near the Lisungwi area.
According to Msoliza, the victims were returning from Mwingitsa Village, where they had gone to visit and support their brothers, who had earlier been involved in a motorcycle accident.
She said that upon reaching Mpunga, the two were allegedly attacked by unknown assailants, who assaulted them before stealing their unregistered Lifan motorcycle valued at K500,000.
Police have since launched investigations and a manhunt to identify and arrest the suspects.
