Analysts Blames Mutharika for Failing to Ease Political Tension in the Country

Two renowned political analysts have faulted President Peter Mutharika for not doing enough to ease political instability in the country.

The two, George Phiri and Humphrey Mvula think that Mutharika has not genuinely shown commitment to unite stakeholders involved in the impasse.

Phiri and Mvula have however, challenged Mutharika to mind his language if he s to be taken seriously on his contact and dialogue statement.

Defending Mutharika, Minister of Information Mark Botomani claims he (Mutharika) has tried on several occasions to extend an olive branch to the opposition and human rights groups but his efforts have yielded nothing.

Aftermath of may 21, 2019 elections the country has been experiencing political tension as some stakeholders and opposition are faulting the way Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) handled the polls.

United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Saulos Chilima and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) leader Lazarus Chakwera are seeking nullification of the polls at the Constitutional Court in Lilongwe.

Any day the Five judge panel presiding over the case will delivers its ruling on the polls case.
