Falling stone hits to death illegal gold miner in Kasungu

A 14 year-old boy has died after a big stone fell on him when he was mining gold.

The incident occurred on October 5, 2020 around at 12:00 hours at Masasa village, Sub Traditional Authority Chitanthamapiri in the district.

The deceased has been identified as Godfrey Nyoni.

It is reported that, the boy went to the place where people are mining gold. Upon reaching the site he started digging the soil from which he wanted to extract gold.

In the course of digging the soil, suddenly a big stone fell on him.

Attempts were made to rescue him and was rushed to Kasungu District Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Postmortem results revealed that death occurred due to head injuries and loss of blood.
