Zameer Karim remanded to Chichiri Prison

Controversial businessperson Zameer Karim of Pioneer Investment has been ordered by the High Court to be remanded to Chichiri Prison in Blantyre until May 18, 2021, a date he is expected to appear in court to answer fraud charges.

Karim was re-arrested by the graft-busting body Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) yesterday, Thursday, after failing to appear before a Judge in Lilongwe.

He is accused of attempting to defraud Ecobank K850-Million- loan using the Malawi Police Service as a guarantor.

Karim was also in the news after depositing 140 Million kwacha into a personal account of former leader President Peter Mutharika.
