Boy dies after eating poisoned Nsima

A six-year-old child has died while six other family members have been admitted to Mwanza district hospital for suspected food poisoning after they ate nsima of pumpkin leaves (nkhwani) mixed with amarath leaves “Bonongwe”.

Family member Enock Sankhulani confirmed that the seven members of Minjale family of Mtitima village Traditional authority Govati in Mwanza were rushed to Thambani health center where they were referred to the district hospital.

Sankhulani says the youngest member of the family Madalitso was pronounced dead upon arrival at the district hospital.

Mwanza district health office spokesperson Dikirani Chadza has asked for more time, saying medical personnel are conducting several tests.
