Court adjourns CHANCO closure case to next week

Zomba High Court Judge has adjourned the interparte hearing on the closure of the University of Malawi (UNIMA), formerly known as Chancellor College (CHANCO).

The management closed CHANCO earlier this week following protests by students on the university’s academic calendar.

University of Malawi fourth year student Mathews Chawinga has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Chiwanga, Unima management’s lawyers were served with the application at 2:30 pm instead of 9 am yesterday.

Chiwanga said the management asked for an adjourned on grounds that they were served with the court order late.
