Nankhumwa takes Buluma’s resignation to Parliament

Leader of the Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has asked the Minister of Energy to explain contradicting statement regarding the fate of Nocma Acting Chief Executive Officer, Helen Buluma.

Earlier, a leaked statement indicated that Buluma resigned from her post due to undue pressure from her superiors and politicians in the government to bring new fuel suppliers on the list of suppliers in an effort to counter the existing fuel crisis in the country.

Few minutes later, another leaked statement from NOCMA indicated that the board terminated Buluma’s contract after a second legal opinion sought from the Attorney General.

Standing on point of order in Parliament Nankhumwa asked the Minister of to explain which of the two started: Buluma’s firing or her resignation.

Buluma resigned on 14th November 2022 and the Board Chairperson Colleen Zamba fired her on 15th November 2022.
