The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services successfully deported a German national, Mr. Tobias Dowidat, through Kamuzu International Airport on Thursday, February 19, 2026, for contravening national immigration laws.
Mr. Dowidat, who had been previously deported from Malawi in November 2024, was found to have unlawfully re-entered the country on February 14, 2026, via the Mchinji One Stop Border Post (OSBP).
Following his discovery, he was convicted for illegal re-entry under Section 33 of the Immigration Act and subsequently removed from the country after the completion of due process.
The Department has cited this deportation as a reaffirmation of its commitment to enforcing immigration laws and safeguarding national security. Officials emphasized that protecting Malawi’s borders remains a top priority and that firm action will continue to be taken against those who attempt to bypass legal entry requirements.
The execution of the deportation follows a strict adherence to the country’s legal framework regarding prohibited immigrants and repeat offenders.
