Three Arrested in Phalombe Over Suspected Mob Killing

Police in Phalombe have arrested three men for allegedly killing a 23-year-old man whom they accused of stealing a motorcycle.
According to Jimmy Kapanga, Public Relations Officer for Phalombe Police Station under the Malawi Police Service, the victim was suspected of being a habitual criminal and was allegedly caught stealing a motorcycle.
Kapanga said the three suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to the incident.
Meanwhile, police have urged members of the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, warning that anyone involved in mob justice will face legal consequences.
The suspects have been identified as Erick Samvala, Chikondi Damiano and Glaston Katandika, all from Mulanje District.
