Mighty Wanderers F.C. will today, Sunday May 24, play their first match at Zomba Stadium following the club’s newly signed partnership with Zomba City Council.
The agreement, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on Friday in Zomba, allows Wanderers to use the stadium as one of their official home grounds.
Zomba City Council was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, while Wanderers Ltd was represented by Football Development Committee chairperson David Kanyenda.
Council officials described the partnership as a major boost for football development and entertainment in the Eastern Region, while Kanyenda said the move is important in taking the club closer to supporters across the country.
Wanderers’ first match at the venue comes against Silver Strikers F.C. in the FDH Bank Premiership.
The development follows concerns raised by Super League of Malawi (SULOM), which reportedly indicated that Kamuzu Stadium is currently not in a suitable condition to host football matches.
