CDH Investment Bank has donated K10 million to the Companies Registrations and Intellectual Property Centre (CRIPC) to support the official launch of the institution.
The institution is transitioning from the Department of Registrar General into a specialised agency which will now be overseeing Intellectual Property Rights and Copyrights mandate.
CDH Investment Bank Chief Legal Officer and Company Secretary, Daniel Mwangwela said CRIPC is key stakeholder in the country’s business environment hence the support.
“At CDH Investment Bank, we like creating value for our stakeholders in our businesses and the Companies’ Registrations and Intellectual Property Center, which was previously known as the Research General’s Office, is one of our key stakeholders in what we do every day in our businesses. Why are they a key stakeholder? They’re a key holder in the sense that we at CDH Investment Bank have the target market, among them corporates, high net with high net worth individuals, and medium scale enterprises, and you know corporates and medium scale enterprises have to go through the office of the research journal, then which is now the center, which we call CRIPC.
“They have to register their business there, some form of partnerships, corporates, and for them to come to do business with us to open accounts with us. And once they do that, we are able to give them facilities, and for us to give them facilities, we need to have security in form of collaterals, and these collaterals have to go through the center again for us to be secure to register them in various registries, be it personal property securities, more even mortgages, and you know, charges,” said Mwangwela.
Deputy Registrar General for Intellectual Property at CRIPC, Chifwayi Chirambo hailed CDH Investment Bank for the timely donation.
“We are very grateful to CDH for this sponsorship. It will go a long way in assisting us towards preparing for the launch of the new institution that we are transforming into, which is the Companies Registrations and Intellectual Property Center,” said Chirambo.
He said the transformation from the Department of Registrar General to CRIPC will enhance service delivery through improved digital solutions, including a new website and online services portal.
