Zahara jets in tomorrow

The weekend is finally here. And for Blantyre-based Mango Entertainment, it is that weekend they have been waiting patiently for as they host South African music sensation Zahara.

Mango Entertainment’s Steve Kamanga said all is set for Zahara’s performaces and that Malawians should have not a slightest inkling of doubt.

“We are set, Zahara will be here performing in Blantyre tomorrow. We have done all the processes and in fact, we have a video in which she is explaining how prepared she is,” said Kamanga.

Zahara jets into the country tomorrow afternoon before her performance at Comesa Hall in the evening.

Kamanga also said before her performance Zahara will share her life story and motivate students at Our Lady of Wisdom Secondary School in Blantyre.

“She actually wanted to do this; she wants to share her life to the students and motivate them,” said Kamanga.

Born on November 9, 1987, Zahara is a singer-songwriter and poet. She released her debut album Loliwe in 2011 which proved to be a big success as it went Platinum in 13 days and went double platinum after just 17 days, selling over 100,000 copies in South Africa.

The demand for the artist’s performance in Malawi has seen Mango Entertainment partner Merchandile International for another show at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe on Sunday.

“We are happy that we found a partner in Merchandile International for another Zahara show in Lilongwe. Some fans in Lilongwe gave us pressure and so this is their chance to watch Zahara after the Blantyre show,” said Kamanga.

He said the Lilongwe show will also have different local acts. The local artists’ curtain-raising the Capital City concert are crowd pullers Black Missionaries and Lulu.

Local acts set to perform during the concert in Blantyre include acoustic group Edgar ndi Davis Band, who are beaming with confidence having also released their latest album Energy Saver and Afro-pop musician Dan Lufani, who also has a new album to his credit titled So What?

Maskal, the Nthawi and Umunthu creator, will also be part of the concert in Blantyre, warming up the stage for Zahara.

On the tickets which are selling at K7,500 advance for general seats and K12,000 for VIP, Kamanga said people are buying the tickets.

However, some people feel the tickets are on the high and that it will restrict more people from attending but Kamanga says, they have tried as much to put a proper rate looking at how much budget has been involved and that they put a fair rate on the advance tickets.

The tickets at the door will be selling at K10,000 for general seats and K15,000 for VIP.
