A 32-year-old man is in police custody in Nsanje for allegedly sleeping with his own 3 year old girl Child.
Nsanje Police Public Relations Officer Sub-Inspector Samson Balakasi has confirmed of the arrest and identified the suspect as Joe Nasiyaya from Chimtedza village in the area of Chief Mbenje in Nsanje.
According to the police, the suspect is alleged to have committed the offence between the night of august 8-9 2014.
“It’s true we are keeping in custody Mr. Joe Nasiyaya for the offence of incest.
“The suspect forced himself into his 3 year old girl child,” said Balakasi.
According to Balakasi, the suspect and his wife are in separation and their two children have the liberty to chose either to sleep with their father or mother.
He said on the material day, the 3 year old girl went to sleep at her mother’s house where the mother observed some white discharge in the girl’s private parts.
“The mother of the 3 year old girl discovered white discharge from the girl’s private parts and suspected that her husband forced himself into the minor since she slept in her father’s house the previous night.
“The matter was brought to our attention and we arrested the suspect.
“Medical examination conducted at Kalemba Health facility revealed that penetration had taken place and that the girl sustained bruises on the private parts as a result of the incident, ” said Police Publicist.
Meanwhile the suspect has denied the charges.
