An electrical fault at Gogo Chatinkha Maternity wing at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital has forced Blantyre health authorities to temporarily close the facility.

Blantyre District Health Officer, Gift Kawalazira has confirmed the development

In an internal memo to hospital staff seen by Faceofmalawi, Kawalazira states that since the facility is under a referral hospital all referral cases have been referred to Chiradzulu District Hospital.

The electrical faults are reported to have affected the health facility on August 26 evening.
