HRDC to Hold Press Briefing Today

Date:

Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) is expecting to hold a press briefing this afternoon in Lilongwe.

Among others the coalition will address the media on their position of Malawi Electoral Commissioners and Jane Ansah’s resignation.

Adding to that the coalition is expecting to address issues to do with the fresh presidential elections and Covid-19 pandemic.

On May 28, the human rights body is expecting to hold demonstrations against MEC commissioners for clinging into power despite being faulted by Constitutional and Supreme Court of Appeal.

Despite Ansah tendering her resignation letter and being approved by President Peter Mutharika, HRDC has said they will carry on with the protest since other commissioners are still holding their positions.
