Information sourced by this publication indicates that murder convict Misozi Chanthunya has appealed the life sentence handed to him by the High Court in Zomba.
The High Court in Zomba in September slapped Chanthunyaa with a life imprisonment with had labour for allegedly killing his girlfriend Linda Gasa in 2010.
The court also slapped Chanthunya with two years for perjury and another two year jail term for the second count of hindering burial of a dead body.
All the sentences will run concurrently.
Just after the ruling Chanthunya’s lawyer hinted that he will appeal the ruling and according to report Chanthunya has appealed the matter
Chanthunya’s lawyer Michael Goba Chipeta confirmed the development in an interview with the press.
According to Chipeta, Chanthunya is appealing against both his conviction and the life sentence.
