DPP Councillor Chimbanga blasts Blantyre Synod SG Billy Gama for asking Chakwera to offer him a job

Opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Ward Leonard Chimbanga has blasted General Secretary for the Blantyre Synod of the CCAP Reverend Billy Gama for asking President Chakwera to offer him a job at MACRA.

Speaking during the official launch of the Henry Henderson School of Excellence this morning Reverend Gama attracted laughter from people who attended the ceremony when he begged Chakwera to offer him a job as board member of MACRA.

He said this after asking President Chakwera to bail the church out on the licence fees the church radio owes MACRA.

Billy Gama’s remarks have attracted mixed reactions among Malawians with many accusing him of being a fortune seeker.

Writing on his official facebook page Chimbanga blasted Reverend Gama for the request.

“It is very unfortunate that Rev Billy Gama had to stoop so low to lick the President’s ass begging for a job at Macra in return he assured the President there will be no demonstrations supported by the synod.

“No Reverend you are wrong. Unlike you who gets food from the Church Membership and survive on church offerings the flock is struggling and can support demonstrations against corruption and impunity. Tisazaone chipumi bhi in 2025 once your fellow reverend is chucked out of office,” wrote Chimbanga.

Meanwhile, it is yet to be seen as to whether Chakwera will offer Reverend Gama the job as requested.
