Maseko Ngoni rally behind Veep Chilima

The heritage of the Maseko Ngoni has rendered moral support to vice president Saulos Chilima, the vice president of Malawi following his arrest on Friday.

In a statement signed by Impi Kandi Padambo Ndau the heritage’s secretary said Chilima is an illustrious Maseko Ngoni and loyal to his majesty Ngwenyama Gomani V.

“Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima Bhiyeni like any other Maseko Ngoni child in time of adversity deserves moral support, prayer for strength and best wishes of the entire Maseko Ngoni family which we hereby extend to the Impi and his family,” said Padambo.

The Maseko Ngoni however, said they are in support of uprooting corruption and respect of rule of law as every person is innocent until proven guilty by a competent court of law.

Chilima was arrested on Friday by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly receiving an advantage in the name of funds amounting to USD280, 000 from UK based business man Zuneth Sattar.

He was later charged with six accounts by the Lilongwe Magistrate Court before being granted bail.

Chilima has since refused to comment on his arrest saying he will let the processes continue.
