Chakwera meets JB, Bakili Muluzi at Sanjika Palace

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on Friday held an audience with former heads of state with an aim of getting an update on effort being done to help cyclone freddy victims to recover from the tragedy under the initiative called Operation Tigwirane Manja.

The former leaders who attended the meeting at Sanjika Palace were former President Dr. Joyce Banda and Dr. Bakili Muluzi.

Writing on his official facebook page after the meeting Chakwera hailed the tireless effort demonstrated by the two ex-leaders.

“Approximately two months after their Excellencies Dr. Bakili Muluzi and Dr. Joyce Banda joined Cyclone Freddy recovery efforts as goodwill ambassadors, I am happy to note that their significant contribution towards Operation Tigwirane Manja initiative is bearing fruits.

“During our meeting today at Sanjika Palace, their Excellencies updated me on the progress they have made from the time they took up this noble task,” wrote Chakwera.

He added: “I am also delighted to note that they are advocating and mobilizing resources for sustainable interventions such as relocation of households from disaster prone areas, reconstruction of destroyed houses and wholesome rehabilitation of affected communities.

“Their involvement is collaborating perfectly with government efforts to ensure that Malawi builds adequate resilience against similar tragedies in future.”

Chakwera launched operation Tigwirane Manja two months ago.

  1. I am occasionally away on business, so I often travel between cities by train, and in order not to get bored on the train I always download a film or series and sit and watch it on the train. I download them from great youtube downloader , I like this site very much because you can download any video or music absolutely free and don’t pay for it.
