A Senior Resident Magistrate Court in Mulanje has sentenced Albert Banda to five years imprisonment for theft by public servant.
The offense is contrary to Section 286(1) of the Penal Code.
Banda was employed as a Sales Agent for Yellow Solar, misappropriated 66 large and small home solar systems belonging to the company in September 2020 valued at K11, 407,400.
During cross-examination, Banda admitted that the 66 solar panels were in his possession as a sales agent but could not account for their whereabouts.
Consequently, the court found Banda guilty of theft.
