Concerned Malawians have petitioned the Mozambican government to ease travel restrictions of SADC members within its borders.
This follows numerous complaints by Malawians over alleged cruelty by Mozambican immigration officers who demand exorbitant illegal fees.
This is prevalent at Cushmano and Zobue where Malawians are harassed and forced to pay bribes while in transit to other countries.
One of the petitioners Bright Kampaundi, who is also a civil rights activist, stresses that this conduct can dent diplomatic relations between Malawi and Mozambique.
