Police at Jenda have arrested a 23-year-old Saidi Nyirongo for allegedly breaking into several houses and shops and stealing property worth millions of kwacha within Jenda trading centre between 2025 and 2026.
Nyirongo, a well-known suspect who had been wanted by police since last year, was finally apprehended on May 14, 2026, following an intelligence-driven operation at the trading centre.
After his arrest, Nyirongo led police officers to various locations where he had been selling stolen items. This led to the recovery of several goods, including a Samsung plasma television, a Dell laptop, seven mobile phones, a bicycle, and other items.
Nyirongo comes from Sopano Village under Traditional Authority Mkwewu in Kasungu District. He is expected to appear in court soon after the completion of paperwork.
