Police in Chilipa, Mangochi, have arrested a 29-year-old man, Jafali M’bwana, for allegedly killing a man suspected of having an affair with his wife.
Mangochi Police spokesperson Amina Daudi said investigations have established that the deceased, Sumaila Aubrey, was allegedly in a romantic relationship with the suspect’s wife.
Daudi said on the day of the incident, Aubrey went to the woman’s house while her husband was reportedly in Lilongwe, believing that he would not return.
However, the suspect allegedly arrived unexpectedly during the night and forced his way into the house after his wife failed to open the door.
According to Daudi, M’bwana allegedly found his wife having sexual intercourse with Aubrey before taking a knife and stabbing him in the chest.
The deceased reportedly managed to escape from the house but later died while attempting to flee.
The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to appear before court to answer murder charges.
