Pika Manondo, chief suspect in the shooting of Budget Director Paul Mphwiyo, has been formally charged with the attempted murder of the budget director at the Lilongwe magistrates court this morning.
This means that Manondo, who surrendered himself to Police after being a fugitive for some days, will have to answer his case at the High Court.
Manondo’s charge was presented at the court where he went for a bail application. However, instead of hearing a case of his bail application, Manondo was slapped by the charge and, therefore, will have to make his application at the High Court.
Arrested on Thursday, it has been alleged that Manondo was traveled to Zomba by the Police to meet another suspect in the drama, Oswald Lutepo.
