One person has been confirmed dead and three others have been seriously injured after violence erupted at Balaka stadium where Silver Strikers was playing against Mighty Wanderers at a decisive match for the TNM Super League.
Reports indicate that the violence erupted as the supporters of the two teams started throwing objects at each other over teasing as Silver Strikers was in the lead and, therefore, on the way to getting the league trophy for the second time running.
As Police tried to quell the violence with teargas, trouble started at the stadium and in the stampede that followed a life was lost while four other people were seriously injured.
