Joyce Banda named winner of Trailblazer Award

Former President Joyce Banda who is also founder of the People’s Party (PP) has been named the 2020 Reykjavik Women Political Leaders (WPL) Trailblazer Award winner.

WPL Communications Assistant, Giulia Brambilla, made the announcement in Iceland in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

According to Brambilla, Banda has been honoured with the award due to her relentless contribution in fighting for a more inclusive and equitable society.

Banda has since accepted the award through a tweet seen by this publication.

“I accept this award on behalf of millions of women who have looked up to me as a role model,” twitted Banda

The WPL Trailblazer Awards are presented to women political leaders and countries who have made strides toward a society where balance between women and men in politics is the reality.
