Police in Chitipa have impounded ten motorcycles for operating without registering with the Directorate of Road Traffic Services.

This comes at a time when the security agency has embarked on a crime prevention campaign.

According to Gladwell Simwaka, Chitipa police public relations officer, the operation was carried out at Lufita trading centre along Chitipa-Karonga road.

Simwaka said the motorcycles will be released to the owners after they have been dully registered.

He further disclosed that five people have also been arrested for not wearing face masks which is against the measures put in place in the fight against COVID 19.
