CHIPONDA URGES CITIZENS TO GET VACCINATED

Co-chairperson of the Presidential task force on COVID-19, Khumbize Chiponda, has emphasized the need for every Malawian to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as a means of combating the disease.

She was speaking Tuesday, at a daily briefing on the COVID-19 situation in Lilongwe, Chiponda, who is also Minister of Health said come this Thursday, President Dr Lazarus Chakwera and Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima will lead Malawians in Zomba and Mzuzu respectively in receiving their first jab symbolizing its safety among the citizenry.

Meanwhile, the Ministry says all is set for the launch of the COVID-19 vaccine administration as all the necessary materials for the exercise have been dispatched to all parts of the country.

The situation report for the past 24 hours indicates that the country has registered 59 new COVID-19 new cases out of 733 tests conducted, 586 recoveries and 4 deaths.
