Minister of Education, Agnes Nyalonje has revealed that about 1262 boreholes are needed in different schools across the country to supply safe and clean water to learners to prevent the cholera outbreak.

According to Nyalonje, as of now the ministry has only managed to drill 500 boreholes in schools that are mostly crowded.

Nyalonje has asked all Malawians to take note on the opening dates of schools in Lilongwe and Blantyre, protecting learners from being affected with outbreak since schools are also a potential hotspots for the spread of cholera.

Nyalonje has assured Malawians that the ministry will adopt open and distance e-learning in the two weeks period.
