A police officer, Sub Inspector Boniface Kumundayayi, who was based at Ndirande Police Station in Blantyre, has died after being attacked by thugs on Tuesday night.
South West Division police spokesperson Joseph Sauka said the deceased was on his way home when he met the thugs who robbed him of his cellphones and other personal belongings.
“He was found unconscious in the morning and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital where he died while receiving treatment,” Sauka said.
He further said that two suspects have been arrested in connection to the incident and cellphones have been recovered.
