Police in Mchinji have arrested a 22 year-old man, Shaibu Idinih, at the border for being found in possession of assorted medical drugs.
District Police spokesperson, Limbani Mpinganjira, said officers at Mchinji Border Police Unit found the suspect with 380 tablets of ARVs, 10 blisters of Sulphamethoxazole and Trimethoprim as he attempted to cross the border en-route to South Africa.
He adds the suspect is expected to appear before court soon to answer the charge of being found in possession of medical drugs without permit and intent to export drugs.
The offence contravenes Section 95 and 96 of Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority Act.
Shaibu Idinih hails from Binali Village, Traditional Authority Makanjira in Mangochi.
