Balaka Magistrate Court has sentenced a 24 year old Steven Maluwa to 14 years imprisonment for raping a 17 year old girl
The deputy spokesperson for Balaka police, Mphatso Munthali said, a prosecutor Winfred Chikhobili told the court that on 1str February 2024, a convict raped the girl when she was on her way back from escorting her friend.
A victim later told her parents about what happened to her, and the parents went to report the case to Balaka Police Station
The senior magistrate, Phillip Chibwana slapped the convict with 14 year’s imprisonment with a hard labor for other people to take a lesson.
Maluwa hails from Chanthunya village in Balaka district.
