The High Court in Mzuzu this morning continues to hear a case involving former First Lady Gertrude Mutharika’s son, Tadikira Mafubza.

Mafubza and seven others are charged with aggravated manslaughter and human trafficking following the discovery of a mass grave containing about 30 bodies of unidentified Ethiopians in Mtangatanga forest in Mzimba district in November, 2022.

The State has started parading its witnesses in court.

In her testimony, crime scene specialist, Assistant Superintendent, Gwendolyn Umali says one body had a waist belt which had foreign phone numbers on it.

Umali says it is difficult to identify who committed the crime, but believes her investigations might help to identify the culprit.
