Three people are reported dead while several others have sustained injured after a Premier Bus Service they were travelling in hit a stationary pickup in Neno on Sunday.

The bus was in its way to South Africa

Neno police spokesperson Sergeant Raphael Kaliati confirmed of the accident in an interview with MIJ fm radio, saying the accident happened at Lisungwi Bridge.

According to Kaliati, the accident happened after the driver of the bus failed to negotiate a corner due to over speeding.

He said the bus hit a stationary pickup belonging to Mkaka Civil Engineering Company and the process the bus overturned.

Meanwhile the driver of the bus has been arrested
